Horse Lounge®
Innovative and surprisingly forward-thinking for the equine sector
Under the name Horse Lounge®, ID Agro introduces an innovative and modern building concept for the horse industry. This building is ideally suited for housing horses, both individually and in groups. In addition, we also design and construct covered training facilities and riding arenas.
The same system has been successfully applied for more than 20 years in livestock housing for other animal species. Within the agricultural sector, it is known for its outstanding indoor climate: exceptional ventilation capacity is combined with controlled daylight penetration, creating a diffused light environment.
This means that no strongly illuminated zones with additional heat build-up occur, as is often the case with traditional roofs equipped with skylights or translucent panels.
- Flooded with natural light and fresh air
- Fully modular and future-proof expansion
- Elevated comfort for optimal horse welfare
Horses have a strong need for sufficient daylight, without excessive radiant heat. As mentioned, diffused light is highly beneficial in both stables and riding arenas.
The Horse Lounge® meets this need through a diffused lighting concept that still allows the penetration of UV light, without causing overheating.
The modular design of the building makes it highly suitable for entrepreneurs with a growth strategy. Since the gutter height is consistent around the entire structure and the building provides sufficient height, it can easily be extended in both length and width.
For example, a clear-span riding arena with an adjacent walkway and single or double rows of stables can later be expanded by adding additional rows of boxes on the opposite side of the arena.
The Horse Lounge® is designed with respect for its surroundings. Its low building height, curved roof shape, and understated colour scheme allow the structure to blend naturally into the environment.
Instead of dominating, the building remains visually calm and balanced within the landscape and surrounding architecture.
The flowing roofline follows the natural shapes of the environment, allowing the Horse Lounge® to integrate seamlessly into its surroundings.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Horse Lounge® is an innovative and modular building concept by ID Agro, designed for optimal horse welfare with abundant natural light, excellent ventilation, and flexible layouts. It can accommodate individual horses, groups, and also serve as a riding arena or training facility.
The building provides abundant daylight, controlled ventilation, and a healthy indoor climate. This reduces stress, supports thermoregulation, and enhances natural resistance, contributing to improved health and welfare.
Diffused light prevents harsh bright spots and overheating. It ensures uniform light distribution throughout the building, promoting Vitamin D3 production and reducing behavioural issues such as weaving, cribbing, and stall walking.
- Horse Lounge Cabrio®: the entire roof can be opened, creating an indoor-outdoor experience; ideal for riding arenas and sports facilities.
- Horse Lounge Move®: part of the roof can be continuously opened and closed for additional ventilation above the stabling area.
Yes. Thanks to its modular design, the building can easily be extended in both length and width, for example with additional boxes, walkways, or arenas.
Yes. The design allows seamless integration with existing stables, walkways, or other structures.
The bright natural light, clear layout, and excellent ventilation create an ergonomic, safe, and pleasant working environment for staff.
Yes. The building concept has been successfully used in livestock farming for various animal species for over 25 years.
Thanks to the modular building system, construction can be completed in a short timeframe. Existing buildings can also be expanded easily.
The structure provides excellent ventilation through both roof and façade openings. This regulates humidity, reduces ammonia and gas concentrations, and ensures a healthy indoor climate.
The modular system allows fast construction and easy future expansion, making it a cost-efficient alternative to traditional buildings while improving horse comfort and welfare.
