Modular Feed Kitchen
A unique collaboration between two innovative companies
ID Agro developed a building specifically for Lely that is compatible with the Vector automatic feed system. This allows the farmer to be fully unburdened: ID Agro supplies the building, and Lely provides the feed system—two dedicated partners for the entire project.
“1+1=3” is the perfect way to describe the Modular Feed Kitchen (MFK). The collaboration between these two innovative companies, Lely & ID Agro, was created to fully meet the needs of modern livestock farmers.
The building for the feed kitchen consists of two areas: a storage space where different types of feed (blocks, bags, or bulk) are stored, and a mixing area.
Here, the robot is loaded by the grabbing system. For the Vector system’s grabber, an IPE steel structure is integrated into the roof.
The Modular Feed Kitchen provides optimal conditions for feed storage. The insulated roof and wind-breaking mesh in the façades ensure that feed stays cool and dry, without heat build-up, spoilage, or mould formation.
Thanks to more than 20 standard concepts, the MFK is fully flexible and can be adapted to the needs of any farm, with various layout and configuration options.
Standardly, the kitchen is equipped with a large roll-up door, making the entire space fully accessible in one movement. This allows for fast and efficient filling. The full opening is almost completely free of supporting columns, making it easy to access even with large machinery.
The mixing area also provides sufficient space for electrical cabinets and mineral dispensers or bagged goods. The MFK is equipped with the necessary safety features to comply with CE requirements.
The unique collaboration guarantees continuous innovation and further development of the feed kitchen, ensuring you are always up to date.
- Maximum flexibility, suitable for any farm layout
- Experienced partners
- A complete, ready-to-use solution
Every farmer is unique, just like every feed kitchen. The MFK is fully tailored to the farmer’s needs and preferences. During the design process, several factors are considered to optimise the use of the Vector system.
That is why the MFK is available in nearly 20 standard concepts with various configuration options, ensuring there is a solution for every farm. Custom solutions remain possible for specific requirements.
Despite the practical layout of the Modular Feed Kitchen, not every farm has available space. In some cases, a client may have unused space in an existing building. In these situations, the MFK Frame offers a solution.
The MFK Frame is a standalone steel structure. ID Agro also offers a range of standard concepts suitable for every type of farm.
The design allows the kitchen to be easily expanded, with the two separate units adjustable in distance from each other.
The steel profiles allow easy mounting of augers, water lines, and electrical cabling. The frame can also be fitted with concrete panels, bird mesh, and a wide roll-up door.
The Modular Feed Kitchen is designed so it can be expanded at a later stage. Thanks to its simple structure, only limited preparation and installation work is required, resulting in lower construction and foundation costs.
The compact dimensions of the MFK often allow it to be installed without a permit. ID Agro also supports the permitting process for your new feed kitchen in the Netherlands.
ID Agro and ID Agro Construct design and install all Modular Feed Kitchens in-house. ID Agro has its own design and engineering department. When designing the MFK, we work closely with the client to understand their needs, wishes, and future plans.
ID Agro Construct has its own installation teams and in-house capabilities for rolling steel and aluminium profiles.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Modular Feed Kitchen provides cool and dry feed storage thanks to insulated roof elements. Ventilation through wind-breaking mesh prevents heat build-up and keeps feed in optimal condition for longer. Together with the Lely Vector system, the kitchen operates efficiently, saving time and creating calm at the feed fence.
There is no fixed minimum or maximum size. The kitchen is fully tailored to your farm, herd size, and future plans. It is suitable for farms of any size.
The kitchen is always designed with the required structural calculations in accordance with CE requirements and local wind and snow load regulations.
ID Agro provides all necessary drawings and calculations for safe execution.
Standard equipment includes a large XL roll-up door, allowing full access for machinery. Storage areas for minerals and feed components can be separately enclosed for clarity and organisation.
Yes, your feed strategy can be fully maintained and improved. Rations can be adjusted per group, and the kitchen works seamlessly with the Vector system for automatic mixing and distribution.
The MFK is designed for minimal maintenance. Durable materials and a smart design ensure long lifespan and easy upkeep.
Yes, the modular design allows easy and cost-efficient expansion. Future growth can already be considered during the initial design phase.
We recommend a floor coating, such as epoxy, for durability and cleanliness. The lines indicate where feed blocks should be placed for accurate distribution by the Vector system.
Thanks to its compact modular design, the kitchen can often be installed without a permit. If required, ID Agro supports the full permitting process.
