In Ostfriesland, a region in the northeast of Germany, the very first Cow Lounge of Germany has been taken into operation. Klaas Geerdes and his son Christian manage together their dairy farm Milchhof Geerdes. Their purpose for the new barn is to improve the animal welfare through more light and fresh air. The father and son have invested in a modern barn equipped with 3 milking robots for their 170 dairy cows. The building with its distinctive wave-shaped roof consist of a galvanised steel construction which measures 58 x 40 m and is covered by 5 domes. Cross ventilation is offered through 5,50 Meter high side walls that are fitted with curtains.
